Columbus Circle, at the southwest corner of Central Park, is site of three of the most expensive residential condominium buildings in New York.  Time Warner Center, Trump International and 15 Central Park West.  The area is touristy, exclusive and has the most expensive restaurants in NYC.

Only 5% of rentals had concessions compared to 23% a year ago.  Concessions are things like one month free rent etc provided by landlords to make a rental more appealing.

Average rent per square foot is $50.60, a 13% increase from a year ago.

Manhattan tops in multi family transactions in 2010
According to Ariel Property Advisors, Manhattan was New York City's most active borough in multi family transactions in 2010.  Total transactions totaled $2.1 billion spread across 170 buildings with an average price of $440 per square foot.  Second was Brooklyn with 99 trades totaling $360 million.

US (specifically New York and Washington) is the top ranked property market according to foreign investors.  Followed by Britain, Germany, China and France.


The Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate reported that the US, focused on New York and Washington, drew 4 times as many votes as second ranked Britain.  This is because fear of a double dip recession is over.
